Detroit Lakes (trfnews.i234.me) — A 51-year-old woman from rural Detroit Lakes has been charged with felony escape from custody after failing to return to jail on a temporary furlough granted to visit her ill mother in Fargo. The incident occurred on November 7, 2023.

Bobbi Jo Lacrosse was facing several felony charges, including motor vehicle theft, when she appeared in Becker County District Court on November 6. After the hearing, Lacrosse was granted a five-hour furlough to visit her mother, who was reportedly being taken off life support. However, authorities say Lacrosse did not go to Fargo as planned. Instead, she allegedly went to a residence near Erhard, and her current whereabouts are unknown.

On November 14, a warrant for her arrest was issued. Lacrosse’s charges include escape from custody and additional charges for failing to comply with the conditions of her furlough. Law enforcement officials are actively searching for her, and the Becker County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information to come forward.

The initial charges against Lacrosse stem from her failure to appear at an October 1 settlement conference hearing. After her arrest, a bail hearing was held, and bail was set at $250 with standard conditions of release. Lacrosse had informed the court that her mother was in critical condition, and the furlough was granted for her to visit. However, Lacrosse allegedly took advantage of the furlough and violated the conditions.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Lacrosse’s whereabouts to contact the Becker County Sheriff’s Office. The public can stay updated on the case through official court filings available on the Minnesota Statutes.

More updates are expected as law enforcement continues its search. A review of the case can be accessed at the Becker County Government website.
