Becker County (trfnews.i234.me) – A rural Detroit Lakes man is facing a felony drug charge in Becker County District Court after an undercover investigation.
According to court records, Howard Verlyn Weekley, 53, has been charged with third-degree controlled substance sales.
The charge stems from an incident on July 9, 2024, when authorities say Weekley sold 3.4 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant working with a special agent. The reported sale occurred at Weekley’s residence, with the informant paying $200 for the drugs.
Following the transaction, investigators built a case against Weekley. On August 7, 2025, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Third-degree drug sale charges in Minnesota carry significant penalties, including the possibility of prison time, depending on prior convictions and the circumstances of the case.
As of now, authorities have not confirmed whether Weekley has been taken into custody following the issuance of the warrant.
The case highlights ongoing drug enforcement efforts in Becker County, where law enforcement agencies frequently use confidential informants to combat meth distribution and other narcotics-related crimes.
Weekley’s case will proceed through Becker County District Court. More details are expected to be released as the case develops.
