Becker County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A Waubun man has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony check forgery following the theft of a checkbook and other items in mid-July.
According to court records, 31-year-old Justin Ryan Finch was linked to a stolen checkbook after a White Earth police officer received a report on July 16. The victim told authorities he had left his truck unlocked while at his girlfriend’s house. Missing from the vehicle were his Fargo Airport security ID and his checkbook.
Investigators say one of the stolen checks was later cashed for $200. The check was written to Finch. Court filings show Finch has also been charged in another case involving similar conduct.
On July 20, Finch was arrested. Officers reported finding the stolen checkbook in his car during the arrest. Court documents also note that Finch has two prior felony theft convictions within the last five years.
Finch is scheduled to make his first court appearance on October 9 before District Judge Michelle W. Lawson. If convicted, he faces possible prison time and additional penalties. More information on Minnesota court proceedings can be found here.
