Badger Man Charged After Pennington County Stop
BADGER, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — A Badger man faces two charges following a traffic stop in Pennington County.
Emil Arvid Barber, 47, was charged in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District Court.
The charges include driving after cancellation as inimical to public safety. That offense is a gross misdemeanor.
Barber also faces a misdemeanor charge for unlawful use of a license plate.
The allegations are included in Pennington County Court File 57-CR-25-721.
Traffic Stop Near Center Street
The incident happened on October 16, 2025, according to the criminal complaint.
A Minnesota State Patrol trooper was traveling near Center Street and 250th Avenue.
The trooper reportedly saw a pickup traveling faster than the posted speed limit.
Radar showed the pickup traveling 70 mph in a 60-mph zone, the complaint states.
The trooper stopped the pickup and identified Barber as the driver.
A license check showed Barber’s driving privileges were canceled as inimical to public safety.
Authorities arrested Barber and transported him to the Pennington County Jail.
The complaint states that Barber was booked and later released.
License Plate Investigation
Later that evening, the trooper reviewed the pickup’s license plate information.
The plate reportedly belonged to a Pontiac Grand Prix owned by Barber.
The trooper returned to the parked pickup and recorded its vehicle identification number.
A records check showed the pickup’s assigned license plates had been revoked.
Prosecutors allege Barber displayed plates that were not issued for the pickup.
The driving charge carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail.
It also carries a possible $3,000 fine, or both penalties.
The license plate charge carries up to 90 days in jail.
It also carries a possible $1,000 fine or both penalties.
The complaint lists several earlier court matters involving Barber.
Those matters include driving, DWI, burglary, vehicle theft, and domestic assault cases.
