Apartment Fire in Grand Forks Leaves Four Residents Homeless

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – We have an update on the apartment fire in Grand Forks this Thursday afternoon. Battalion Chief Chris Carlson reported that at 4:08 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to 309 North 5th Street due to smoke in the building. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy black smoke on the second floor. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but one unit suffered significant fire and smoke damage, with additional smoke damage throughout the second floor. Four residents have been displaced. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Grand Forks Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck, one command vehicle, and 20 personnel. There were no injuries to the public or firefighters. Grand Forks Police and Altru Ambulance assisted at the scene.
