an arrest warrant has been issued for 60-year-old David Lee Cooper of Grand Forks after he allegedly borrowed over $116,000 from his elderly female landlord who was in a state of declining mental health according to court documents a check of the woman’s finances uh by family members showed she had written over $116,000 worth of checks to Cooper between 2020 1 in 2023 during an interview with an investigator Cooper denied knowledge his landlord had a cognitive decline he did admit that he had a previous gambling problem but denied using any of the funds for gambling he says he used the money to help his daughter and attend sporting card shows Cooper has now been charged with felonies of theft of property and exploitation of an eligible adult I’m Neil Berg reporting for I news .tv
