Aitkin County: Three Injured In McGregor Plane Crash

AITKIN COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of three people injured in a small plane crash near McGregor, Minnesota, on Sunday.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received 911 calls around 4:26 p.m. reporting a crash near the McGregor Airport. First responders found the wreckage about a half mile southeast of the airport.

The aircraft, identified as a Piper PA-28-140, reportedly lost power shortly after takeoff. The pilot attempted to return to the airport, but the plane went down in a swampy area short of the runway.

Three adults were on board. One passenger was airlifted from the scene for medical treatment, while two others were taken by ground ambulance to a hospital in Aitkin. All three occupants are reported to be in stable condition.

The victims have been identified as 23-year-old Kaden Brazinsky of Ham Lake, 22-year-old Wyatt Sherry of New Richmond, and 23-year-old Jocelyn Erlandson of Ham Lake.

Assisting agencies included McGregor Fire and First Responders, North Memorial Ambulance, Wright Ambulance, Cromwell Fire, and the Minnesota State Patrol. The Federal Aviation Administration is expected to join the investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office says additional details will be released as the investigation continues.
