ADA, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo man is facing several charges after a traffic stop in Norman County.
Jonathan Wayne Kingbird, 41, of Fargo, North Dakota, is charged in Norman County District Court.
The case was filed in Minnesota’s 9th Judicial District under court file 54-CR-26-119.
Traffic Stop On Highway 200
According to the criminal complaint, the stop happened on April 26, 2026.
An Ada police officer was patrolling State Highway 200 near County Road 35.
The officer reported seeing a driver holding a phone while driving.
The driver allegedly said he was calling his son.
The driver was later identified as Jonathan Kingbird.
Alcohol Allegations
The complaint says the officer smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle.
Kingbird first denied drinking alcohol, according to the complaint.
He later allegedly said he had two vodka soda drinks.
The officer also reported seeing glossy eyes.

Kingbird declined some field sobriety tests, citing poor balance.
The complaint says he later provided a preliminary breath test.
That test allegedly showed 0.19 at 8:29 p.m.
At the sheriff’s office, breath testing allegedly showed 0.20 at 9:01 p.m.
Charges Filed In Norman County
Kingbird is charged with third-degree DWI, a gross misdemeanor.
He is also charged with using a wireless device while driving.
Additional counts include reckless driving and an open bottle violation.
The complaint says a half-consumed vodka shooter was found in the center console.

Kingbird is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
