Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN (trfnews.i234.me)—On December 31, 2024, deputies responded to the Benco Electric Cooperative parking lot at 20946 549th Avenue in South Bend Township, Blue Earth County, after reports of broken glass and a handgun on the property.
Shortly thereafter, a woman with a gunshot wound arrived at Mayo Clinic Health System.
Surveillance footage from Benco Electric Cooperative showed two individuals exchanging gunfire near a vehicle in the parking lot. The woman, who sustained a non-life-threatening injury, was present during the shooting but was not an active participant.
Deputies located 18-year-old Abdikhadar Fakhi Mohidin of Moorhead at a nearby residence. Mohidin matched the description of one of the shooters in the video and was taken into custody. The incident appears to be drug-related, with suspected marijuana found near the broken glass and firearm at the scene.
The woman remains hospitalized. Authorities have not identified the other person involved, and no additional information has been released as the investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office stated there is no current threat to public safety.
