Collision in Grand Forks County: School Bus Rear-Ended at Busy Intersection

Grand Forks County (trfnews.i234.me)On Thursday afternoon, April 3, a school bus carrying two children was rear-ended at the intersection of DeMers Avenue and 42nd Street. The incident occurred around 4:17 p.m. when the bus was stopped at a railroad crossing and was struck from behind by a Nissan Rogue SUV. The driver of the SUV, a college student, admitted to reaching down to pick something up off the floor of their vehicle and did not realize the bus had stopped. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no one was transported to the hospital. The driver was cited for the incident.

Did you know? Distracted driving is a leading cause of rear-end collisions. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), taking your eyes off the road for just five seconds at 55 mph is like driving the length of a football field with your eyes closed.
