Shocking Arrest in Thief River Falls: Man Faces Multiple Charges After Driving Under the Influence

Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me)In a shocking turn of events, a Thief River Falls man, Travis Clifford Forsberg, 45, was arrested on March 12, facing severe charges after a late-night traffic stop. Forsberg has been charged with second-degree driving while intoxicated (DWI) and driving after revocation, with two or more aggravating factors. The arrest followed an alarming series of events involving Forsberg’s reckless behavior and disregard for the law.

Did you know? On March 12 at about 2:59 a.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Brooks Avenue and First Street. Forsberg, who was already out on conditions of release for a prior DWI charge in Polk County, was allegedly seen driving into the Sanford Medical Center parking lot. Upon noticing a deputy’s presence, Forsberg fled the scene. The sergeant, aware of Forsberg’s prior DWI history, conducted a traffic stop soon after.

Upon questioning, the sergeant could smell alcohol on Forsberg’s breath, and noticed his bloodshot, watery eyes. Forsberg denied being at the hospital or consuming any alcohol, even though the sergeant had received a tip about his intoxicated driving. Forsberg agreed to a breath test under the conditions of his release from jail, which revealed a staggering 0.12 Blood Alcohol Content (BAC).

Further tests at the jail confirmed a BAC of 0.10. Forsberg’s prior DWI convictions from August 2022 and March 2025 only add weight to the case. Forsberg was arrested and charged, marking yet another incident in his troubling history with alcohol and driving.

The incident serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of driving under the influence, especially for individuals with a history of DWI offenses. Police continue to urge the public to make responsible choices to prevent further tragic events on the roads.
