HALSTAD, MN (trfnews.i234.me)—In the early hours of January 25, 2025, a fatal head-on collision occurred on U.S. Highway 75 near 270th Avenue in Halstad Township, Norman County. A 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by a 68-year-old male from Climax, Minnesota, was traveling northbound, while a 2016 International PROSTAR semi-truck, operated by 26-year-old Luis Enrique Pardo from Mexico, was heading southbound. The two vehicles collided in the southbound lanes under snowy and icy road conditions.
The driver of the Ford Taurus sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Luis Enrique Pardo, the semi-truck driver, was uninjured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the incident, with assistance from the Norman County Sheriff’s Office, Essentia EMS, Ada Police Department, and Halstad Fire and Rescue. Further details, including the identity of the deceased driver, are expected to be released following notification of family members.
