Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN (trfnews.i234.me)—On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at approximately 6:32 p.m., the Minneapolis Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at a two-and-a-half-story residential duplex located at 1007 19th Avenue Northeast in Minneapolis.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke emanating from the second floor of the building.

They forced entry and conducted a search, encountering heavy black smoke on the second floor. A smoldering couch was identified as the source of the smoke and was promptly extinguished.

During the search, an unconscious adult female and a dog were found on the floor of the second-floor unit. Both were removed from the building, and emergency medical personnel initiated CPR. Despite these efforts, the woman and the dog were pronounced dead at the scene.

These incidents represent the first fire-related fatalities in Minneapolis for the year 2025. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and the identity of the deceased woman has not been released. It is also undetermined whether smoke alarms were present or operational in the affected unit.
