GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — A 42-year-old Grand Forks man, Jeremie Richard Castoreno, appeared in court on Monday, Dec. 2, following his arrest on Nov. 29. Castoreno is charged with Class A felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a charge that carries a maximum 20-year sentence.
Castoreno was pulled over by law enforcement, and officers noted signs of nervousness. The specific reason for the traffic stop is not provided in court documents. Since Castoreno was on probation at the time, law enforcement sought approval from his probation officer to search his vehicle. During the search, officers discovered suspected methamphetamine inside a drawstring bag in the back seat and a rolled marijuana cigarette in the center console.
A drug task force officer confirmed that the quantity of methamphetamine exceeded 50 grams, suggesting it was intended for trafficking rather than personal use. Castoreno was arrested and booked into the Grand Forks County Correctional Center. His preliminary hearing and arraignment are scheduled for 9 a.m. on Jan. 13.
