DILWORTH, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) – A Fargo man faces two gross misdemeanor charges following three reported speaker theft incidents at Dilworth Walmart.
Aerige N. Majhi, 22, of Fargo, is charged with theft and fourth-degree burglary in Clay County District Court.
According to the criminal complaint, the incidents involved speakers with a combined merchandise value of approximately $626.
Investigators allege Majhi returned to Walmart after receiving a trespass notice banning him from the store.
First Incident Involves $199 Speaker
The investigation began with a theft reported to Dilworth police on January 28, 2026.
According to court documents, the incident occurred around January 26 at the Dilworth Walmart.
Store security reported that a man selected a large speaker valued at $199 and approached the self-checkout area.
The man reportedly scanned the speaker, but his payment card was declined.
Instead of completing the purchase, he allegedly left the store with the merchandise.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and compared the individual’s appearance with previous booking photographs.
Police identified the individual as Majhi, according to the complaint.
Second Incident Leads to Walmart Ban
On February 3, Majhi allegedly returned to the Dilworth Walmart with another individual.
Store security reported seeing the two attempt to leave with speakers valued at $298 without paying.
An employee stopped the individuals near the exit and recovered the speakers before they left.
Police later contacted Majhi as he drove away from the store.
According to the complaint, Majhi acknowledged taking the speakers past the checkout area.
Authorities issued him a trespass notice banning him from the Walmart until February 2, 2027.

Third Incident Involves Alleged Fake Receipt
Despite the trespass notice, Majhi allegedly entered the same Walmart again on March 31, 2026.
Store security reported that Majhi selected another speaker and removed its spider-wire security device.
He allegedly approached the exit without paying for the $129 speaker.
According to the complaint, Majhi showed a store employee a false receipt before leaving with the merchandise.
The incident prompted another report to the Dilworth Police Department.
Two Gross Misdemeanor Charges Filed
Prosecutors combined the three reported incidents into a theft charge involving approximately $626 in merchandise.
That total includes the $298 in speakers recovered by store security during the February incident.
Majhi faces one count of theft under Minnesota Statute 609.52.
He also faces fourth-degree burglary under Minnesota Statute 609.582.
The burglary charge relates to his alleged return to the store after receiving the trespass notice.
Each charge carries a maximum possible penalty of 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.
Clay County Court Case
The case is filed in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District under court file number 14-CR-26-3575.
The criminal complaint lists a summons for Majhi.
The accusations remain allegations. Majhi is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
