THIEF RIVER FALLS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Thief River Falls man faces DWI and false-name charges after a sheriff’s deputy reported erratic driving along Highway 59.
Jeremy Brian Haynes, 35, of Thief River Falls, was arrested following a traffic stop on November 1, 2026.
According to the criminal complaint, Haynes allegedly gave deputies a false identity before authorities discovered his actual name.
Investigators also reported a preliminary blood alcohol concentration of 0.19.
Deputy Reports Vehicle Crossing Centerline
The investigation began when a sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle traveling along Highway 59.
According to court documents, the vehicle allegedly crossed well beyond the centerline.
The deputy also observed the pickup repeatedly touching the centerline and fog line.
Authorities initiated a traffic stop, although the exact location along Highway 59 was not provided.
While speaking with the driver, the deputy reportedly noticed signs of alcohol impairment.
Driver Allegedly Provides False Name
During the encounter, Haynes allegedly identified himself using a different name.
Investigators became suspicious and searched for information that could establish his identity.
According to the complaint, authorities discovered a prescription pill bottle bearing Haynes’ name inside the pickup.
Deputies also located an expired identification card in his wallet.
These discoveries helped investigators determine that the driver was Jeremy Brian Haynes.
Haynes reportedly explained that he used his son’s middle name and a family name along with his own first name.

Revoked License and Outstanding Warrant Discovered
After confirming Haynes’ identity, deputies requested information from dispatch.
Authorities learned that his driving privileges had been revoked.
Dispatch also reported an outstanding body-only warrant from Clearwater County.
The available complaint summary did not identify the underlying offense connected to that warrant.
Breath Test Shows 0.19 BAC
According to court documents, Haynes participated in field sobriety testing during the investigation.
Deputies reported that he failed the tests.
A preliminary breath test then produced a blood alcohol concentration of 0.19.
That reading was more than twice Minnesota’s standard legal driving limit of 0.08.
The available report did not provide a separate evidentiary breath test result.
Two Criminal Charges Filed
Following the investigation, Haynes was arrested.
He faces the following charges:
- Third-Degree Driving While Impaired: A gross misdemeanor DWI charge.
- Giving a False Name to a Peace Officer: Allegedly providing inaccurate identification information during the traffic stop.
Authorities also identified the outstanding Clearwater County warrant during the investigation.
The available report did not provide a scheduled court appearance or additional details about the warrant.
Additional information about Minnesota’s DWI laws is available through the Minnesota Office of the Revisor of Statutes.
The charges remain allegations. Haynes is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
