POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A Winger, Minnesota, woman, Jayden Marie Ray, 20, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Nov. 26, to first-degree assault causing great bodily harm in connection with a stabbing outside a McIntosh bar. Ray, however, maintained not guilty pleas for attempted second-degree murder and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
The plea agreement proposes dismissing the remaining charges and sentencing Ray to an 86-month prison term, contingent on her having no prior criminal history.
Polk County deputies responded to the incident on Jan. 14, finding a man with stab wounds outside the bar. Witnesses reported the man had been involved in altercations earlier that evening and was locked outside, where he allegedly became involved in another confrontation.
Statements from Ray and witnesses revealed conflicting accounts. Ray initially denied stabbing the man but later admitted to using a small pocket knife, stabbing him in the neck and additional times before discarding the weapon.
The victim, hospitalized with multiple wounds, confirmed a woman had attacked him. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 28 following a pre-sentence investigation.
