Becker County trfnews.i234.me  A 38-year-old woman from rural Lake Park, Ashley Ann Knapper, has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fifth-degree assault and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault.

The charges stem from an incident on December 4th, when Becker County deputies responded to a disturbance call in Audubon. Upon arrival, the deputies spoke to Knapper, who claimed that she was not harmed but was upset that her son had received a package from a woman. She said the woman had also handed Knapper paperwork.

Knapper stated that the woman attempted to force her way into her apartment. She provided a video to deputies, showing her pushing a door shut on the woman’s hand.

The woman involved, who is the landlord, told deputies that she was serving Knapper an eviction notice due to late rent. The landlord explained that the package delivered to Knapper’s son had been mistakenly sent to someone else, and she was only trying to return it to its rightful recipient.

When deputies checked the landlord’s hand, they observed an open wound and bruising. Knapper admitted that the package was addressed to her son, confirming the landlord’s story. She was asked by the deputies for the paperwork she had been given and confirmed it was an eviction notice.

Court records also indicate that Knapper has two prior domestic violence-related convictions in the past three years.

Knapper’s next court appearance is scheduled for January 29th before District Judge Gretchen D. Thilmony.
