STRATHCONA, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) – Authorities confirmed that Seddrex Gates, who died in a house fire in Roseau County last week, was a fugitive wanted in connection with the 2021 killing of Patricia Wright in Brooklyn Center.
On June 23, 2021, Gates allegedly shot Patricia Wright at her home, which they shared with their six children. Shortly after, he was charged with first-degree arson for burning down the garage at the crime scene, destroying many of Wright’s personal belongings. Court records indicate Gates claimed he set the fire because he “had bad feelings.”
Legal proceedings transferred the property to Wright’s sister, Teicha Tenhoff, while Gates evaded authorities. In May 2024, Gates was located in Brainerd and placed under house arrest, but he removed his monitoring bracelet in October and disappeared again.
Gates was eventually found deceased in a fire near Strathcona, Minnesota, close to the Canadian border. Authorities are investigating possible accomplices, including Gates’ girlfriend, who may face charges for harboring a fugitive. Wright and Gates leave behind six children.
