POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A Crookston man was sentenced to 21 months in prison on Tuesday, October 29. The individual, identified as Aladdin Da’jion Bankhead, aged 30, had been charged with an additional seven felonies.
The charges included conspiracy to commit a first-degree controlled substance crime and the sale of at least 17 grams of methamphetamine within 90 days. He was also accused of selling methamphetamine in a park zone on two separate occasions and possessing cocaine and marijuana in prohibited zones.
Before being charged, law enforcement had spoken with individuals who claimed that Bankhead sold them drugs. According to court documents, Bankhead allegedly told authorities that he used marijuana and cocaine and acted as a middleman providing people with marijuana but not selling any other substances.
Bankhead underwent drug testing, which revealed the presence of cocaine, methamphetamine, amphetamine, and THC in his system. A search of his residence yielded a smashed cell phone, drug paraphernalia, a scale, fentanyl test strips, testing kits, and residue from methamphetamine and cocaine.
Due to the proximity of Bankhead’s residence to a school, he was eligible for enhanced criminal charges. His sentence will be served concurrently with two other cases in which he was convicted of stalking and violating a domestic abuse no-contact order.
Bankhead is currently being held at the correctional facility in St. Cloud. Under Minnesota’s two-thirds rule, he will be placed on supervised release after 14 months in custody. With credit for 228 days served, his prison time should total less than seven months.
