Crookston (trfnews.i234.me) — A Crookston man faces a new felony charge over alleged sexual messages to a 13-year-old girl.

Dustin Thomas Williams, 24, is charged with electronic communication relating to sexual conduct with a child, court filings show.

The criminal complaint was filed in Polk County District Court on October 23, 2026.

A conviction could bring up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The new charge comes while Williams is serving supervised probation for an earlier felony conviction.

Investigation Begins With Probation Alert

According to the complaint, Williams received a stayed sentence and supervised probation in October 2025.

That sentence followed a felony conviction for threats of violence.

On October 19, 2026, a probation agent contacted Crookston police about suspected sexual messages involving a minor.

Investigators then reviewed screenshots of a TikTok conversation involving Williams and a 13-year-old girl.

The messages reportedly began on August 18, 2026.

According to the complaint, the conversations included discussions about the age difference between Williams and the girl.

The messages allegedly became sexual despite the girl’s young age.

Investigators also reported finding messages about moving their conversation to another social media platform.

The complaint alleges the planned move involved sharing images.

Williams Detained During Probation Meeting

Williams attended a scheduled meeting with his probation agent on October 22.

Authorities detained him during that meeting over an alleged probation violation, according to the complaint.

Williams later agreed to speak with police after investigators advised him of his rights.

During the interview, Williams acknowledged the conversation with the girl, according to court documents.

He told investigators he “was not in the correct headspace at the time,” the complaint states.

His statements were included in the criminal complaint supporting the new felony charge.

Felony Charge Filed in Polk County

The new case was filed on October 23 in Polk County District Court.

Williams was reported in custody at the Northwest Regional Corrections Center following his detention.

The facility is located in Crookston and serves Polk, Norman, and Red Lake counties.

Readers can review available custody information through the Northwest Regional Corrections Center inmate roster.

The complaint lists Williams as homeless in Crookston.

Public case information is available through Minnesota Court Records Online.
