Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office Report 10/12/24

On 10/03/24, Melissa Jean Peterson (42) of Red Lake Falls was cited for a misdemeanor school-bus stop-arm violation. She was identified as the driver of a vehicle that drove through a stop-arm on 4th St. SW in Red Lake Falls on 09/27/24.

On the morning of 10/04/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an unauthorized individual, riding on top of a railcar on a Canadian Pacific train that was traveling near Brooks. Red Lake County deputies caught up to the train in Plummer and coordinated with CP Rail officials to get their train stopped. Deputies searched the train and found Juan Fransisco Colocko Canales (44) of Mexico, on top of one of the train cars. Mr. Canales was arrested, taken to jail in Crookston and was booked for trespass on railroad property. He was released from custody on 10/06/24 and he will be summonsed to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls at a later date.

On the morning of 10/05/24, the Dollar General Store in Red Lake Falls requested assistance with an unruly customer. A Red Lake County deputy responded, provided assistance. The customer left the store and was trespassed.

On 10/07/24, a formal criminal complaint was filed, charging Jamie Elizabeth Martinson (42) of Oklee with gross misdemeanor neglect or endangerment of a child. The criminal complaint alleges Ms. Martinson endangered her children’s health and welfare by permitting them to be placed in a situation likely to harm their physical, mental, or emotional health. It is alleged she failed to provide a safe home environment for two of her juvenile children, in the city of Oklee, in September of 2024. She will be summonsed to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls later in October.

On the morning of 10/07/24, a juvenile male from Crookston was cited for speeding and no proof of current of motor vehicle insurance on Main Ave. in Red Lake Falls.

On the afternoon of 10/07/24, a Plummer resident reported a theft of property from their vehicle. That report is still under investigation.

On the afternoon of 10/07/24, an individual reported a theft of property from a location in Equality Township. That investigation is ongoing.

On the afternoon of 10/08/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of several political signs getting stolen or tampered with around the Red Lake Falls area.

On the afternoon of 10/08/24, Jeremiah Amani Gonzalez (18) of Grand Forks was cited for speeding on CR. #49 west of Hwy. #59.

On the evening of 10/08/24, an individual reported they were being harassed via text message. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with the individuals involved and advice was given.

On the evening of 10/08/24, Miles Robert Moore (19) of Crookston was cited for speeding on CR. #1 west of Plummer.

Shortly after midnight on 10/09/24, a Plummer resident spoke with a Red Lake County deputy about obtaining a harassment restraining order. Advice was given.

On the morning of 10/09/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s received a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Oklee. A Red Lake County deputy responded and found that two individuals were having a verbal argument and no crimes were committed. One of the parties involved had left the residence prior to the deputy’s arrival and the matter had resolved itself.

On the morning of 10/10/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office was requested to check on the welfare of a Red Lake Falls resident who had not been heard from for several days. Later the same afternoon, the missing person was located and safely accounted for.

On the afternoon of 10/10/24, Roger Clay Thompson (64) of Red Lake Falls was cited for expired motor vehicle registration on Main Ave. in Red Lake Falls.
