Fargo Apartment Fire Displaces Two Residents

Fargo (trfnews.i234.me) — An early morning apartment fire damaged two units and displaced two Fargo residents Tuesday.

The Fargo Fire Department was called to 811 7th Avenue North at about 1:10 a.m.

Firefighters arrived and found heavy smoke and flames coming from a second-floor apartment.

Crews quickly called for a second alarm because of the size of the fire.

The fire was extinguished about 10 minutes after the first firefighters reached the scene.

Tenant Alerted Nearby Officers

The emergency response began after a tenant escaped from the burning apartment.

The tenant then flagged down Fargo police officers who were handling another nearby call.

The officers began warning other tenants and helped residents leave the apartment building.

Two occupants and their pets were helped through a basement window.

All tenants and pets escaped the building safely.

No injuries were reported during the fire or evacuation.

Fire officials said two apartment units suffered significant fire and smoke damage.

Two occupants were displaced because of the damage.

Officials did not immediately have an estimate for the total property loss.

The extent of damage to other areas of the building was not detailed.

The Fargo Fire Department continues to investigate the cause.

No cause had been announced in the initial report.

Fargo firefighters responded with five engines and one ladder truck.

Two command vehicles were also sent to the apartment complex.

The Fargo Police Department assisted with evacuating residents and securing the scene.

Sanford Ambulance also responded during the emergency.

The Salvation Army and American Red Cross provided additional help at the scene.

Officials said no additional information was immediately available Tuesday morning.

The investigation will continue as fire officials work to determine what started the blaze.
