Crookston Corrections Officer Faces Sex Charges

Crookston, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — Irving Emanuel Bravo faces two felony criminal sexual conduct charges involving two female inmates.

Bravo, of Red Lake Falls, worked as a corrections officer at the Northwest Regional Corrections Center in Crookston.

The charges are two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving alleged sexual penetration.

Each felony count carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, according to the case information.

Two Inmates Report Alleged Assaults

According to the probable cause statement, investigators were called to the correctional center on September 11.

Two female inmates reported being sexually assaulted by a corrections officer earlier that day.

The women identified the officer as Irving E. Bravo, according to the court filing.

The alleged assaults occurred between about 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Both women reported sexual penetration during the incident, according to the probable cause statement.

One woman told investigators that Bravo’s alleged inappropriate behavior had been happening for several weeks.

She alleged Bravo found reasons to visit her cell and gave the women tobacco and candy.

The woman also accused Bravo of touching both inmates inappropriately and commenting about their bodies.

The probable cause statement describes a more serious encounter inside the inmates’ cell on September 11.

One woman alleged Bravo reached inside her clothing and sexually penetrated her with his hand.

The filing also alleges Bravo performed oral sex on both women during the same encounter.

The allegations were reported to law enforcement later that day.

Investigators collected evidence as part of the sexual assault investigation.

The probable cause statement says DNA evidence collected from the women was linked to Bravo.

Prosecutors then charged Bravo with two felony counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
