Moorhead Hammer Assault Case: Fargo Woman Charged
Moorhead, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo woman faces felony charges after an alleged hammer assault in Moorhead.
Baily Crissler, 25, is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
The charge is a felony, according to a complaint filed in Clay County District Court.
Crissler also faces a misdemeanor count of fifth-degree assault.
The case stems from an August 14 confrontation at a home on 5th Street South.
Police Respond to Early Morning Assault
Moorhead police were called to the home at about 2:40 a.m.
The injured woman told police she went there after not hearing from her boyfriend.
She said Crissler arrived shortly afterward.
According to the complaint, the women had a connection through the same man.
The woman said Crissler told her the man wanted to talk with her.
She said she considered the relationship over and did not want to hear excuses.
The woman told police Crissler became upset and began threatening her.
She said Crissler grabbed her hair when she stood up to leave.
The complaint says Crissler then forced the woman’s head downward.
The woman alleged Crissler struck her head several times with a hammer.
She told police she did not see the hammer before being struck.
She also alleged Crissler punched her face and struck her hip.
Woman Taken to Fargo Hospital
Police reported seeing a large bump on the woman’s head.
They also reported blood on her face and a swollen, bloodied lip.
Visible injuries were also reported on both of her forearms.
The woman was taken to a Fargo hospital for treatment.
Crissler Gives Different Account
Crissler later spoke with police by telephone, according to the complaint.
She said the other woman became upset after learning the relationship had ended.
Crissler alleged the woman struck her nose and the back of her head.
She said she drove herself to a hospital for medical care.
Police asked Crissler to meet with investigators in person.
The complaint says Crissler questioned the request before ending the call.
Police said she did not answer later attempts to contact her.
Crissler is being held at the Clay County Jail.
