Cass Lake Teen Homicide: Dylon Oothoudt Identified

Cass Lake, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — Dylon Ray Oothoudt, 17, of Walker, has been identified as the victim of a Cass County homicide.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said Oothoudt died from a gunshot wound.

An autopsy was completed by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.

Investigators have not announced any arrests in the case.

The investigation remains active.

Teen Found Dead Near Cass Lake

Oothoudt was found on Sunday, September 13, in Pike Bay Township.

The location is in rural Cass Lake.

The sheriff’s office received an ambulance request at about 7:57 a.m.

The request followed a report of a possibly deceased person.

Medical crews and law enforcement officers responded to John Moose Drive NW.

They found Oothoudt dead in the yard of a residence.

Authorities began an investigation at the scene.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the case.

Community members gathered September 15 for a candlelight vigil honoring Oothoudt.

The event was called “Blackout Against Gun Violence.”

Organizers asked people to wear black and light candles.

Participants also offered prayers and words of support for Oothoudt’s family and friends.

The gathering called for peace, healing and strength.

The vigil came as investigators continued reviewing information connected to the case.
