Moorhead Man Charged in $10K Stolen F-150 Case

Moorhead (trfnews.i234.me) — Xander Michael David Quarve faces a felony receiving stolen property charge in Clay County.

The case involves a black 1998 Ford F-150 reported stolen from Fargo.

The owner valued the truck at about $10,000, according to the court complaint.

Quarve’s case is filed as 14-CR-26-2994 in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District.

Prosecutors allege the offense occurred between December 2025 and April 2026.

Truck Reported Stolen in Fargo

The Ford F-150 was reported stolen from a Fargo residence on December 17, 2025.

The owner said the truck disappeared during a roughly 40-minute period that afternoon.

The owner later told investigators he suspected Quarve and Rylee Allen Mehtala.

He also reported the truck might be at Michael Paul Johnson’s property near Barnesville.

Investigators visited that property on April 28, 2026.

A truck matching the stolen Ford was visible from a nearby road.

The complaint says the truck was missing its doors and hood.

Large portions of the engine were also missing.

Investigators checked the vehicle identification number.

The VIN matched the Ford reported stolen in Fargo.

Johnson told investigators that Quarve and Mehtala brought the truck to his property.

He said they began removing tires and other parts from the vehicle.

Johnson said Quarve claimed the truck came from Facebook Marketplace.

Johnson also alleged the truck was heavily damaged and shot with a gun.

Investigators later contacted Mehtala and Quarve at another location.

Mehtala denied being involved with the stolen truck.

Quarve also said he knew nothing about the vehicle, according to the complaint.

Authorities planned to remove the stolen truck from Johnson’s property.

However, the truck was gone the following day.

It was located in a ditch near Barnesville on April 29.

The location was about four miles from where investigators previously saw it.

Investigators later obtained phone records connected to Quarve and Mehtala.

The complaint says both phones used the same cell towers that night.

Those towers covered areas connected to the truck’s movement.

Quarve is charged under Minnesota Statute 609.53.

Prosecutors allege he possessed or handled the vehicle while knowing it was stolen.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

It also carries a possible fine of up to $10,000.

The charge is an allegation and does not establish guilt.

Quarve is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
