RED LAKE, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — Federal agents searched a Red Lake Nation child welfare facility on Thursday, Sept. 10.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation confirmed agents served a search warrant at the facility.
Agents from the Bureau of Indian Affairs also took part in the operation.
The search happened at Ombimindwaa Gidinawemaaganinaadog on the Red Lake reservation in northern Minnesota.
The facility was formerly known as Red Lake Family and Children Services.
Federal agents execute search warrant
An FBI spokesperson confirmed the search warrant was carried out Thursday.
Authorities have not released details about what investigators were seeking.
No arrests were made during the search, according to the FBI.
Federal officials also have not announced any criminal charges connected with the investigation.
The FBI said it could not provide further details because the investigation remains active.
It was not immediately clear how long investigators were at the facility.
Officials also did not say whether any records, computers, or other property were taken.
Red Lake Nation responds
The Red Lake Tribal Council released a statement after the federal search.
The council said the Red Lake Nation will continue cooperating with federal and tribal law enforcement partners.
Tribal leaders also said they will continue protecting the Nation’s sovereignty and community.
The council said there is no known threat to public safety.
Community members were asked to remain patient while investigators continue their work.
Investigation remains ongoing
Authorities have not announced what prompted the search warrant.
They also have not identified anyone as a suspect in the investigation.
No information has been released about possible charges or future court proceedings.
The FBI’s Minneapolis Field Office oversees federal investigations across Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Red Lake Nation officials have not announced whether normal operations at the child welfare facility were affected.
