Bison Dominate Marauders Invite, Claiming Top 10 Places in Men’s Race

BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota State men’s cross country team won the Marauders Invite for the 2024 season opener on Friday afternoon, posting a perfect team score of 15 points.
 
Each of the first 10 runners across the finish line were Bison, as NDSU dominated the eight-kilometer race at McDowell Dam Recreation Area. Senior Hunter Klimek was the individual champion with a time of 24:34.74, and Symon Keiser was close behind as the runner-up in 24:38.79.
 
NDSU redshirt freshmen Ethan Moe (24:45) and Ivan Askim (24:54) placed third and fourth, respectively. Bison junior Jacob Knodle completed the team scoring in 24:55 for fifth place.
 
NDSU’s Will Gerber (25:00), Regan Bosch (25:10), Carl Rekow (25:13), Tyson Mahar (25:14), and Demetrius Farmakis (25:25) completed the Bison sweep of the top 10 places.
 
Klimek’s time gives him the 15th-fastest cross country 8k performance in NDSU’s Division I era, and Keiser ranks 17th on the list.
 
The Bison will compete next at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by Minnesota on Sept. 20.
