Glyndon: Tucker Faces Gun Charge in Rabbit Shooting

GLYNDON, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — Logan Jerome Tucker faces firearm and open-bottle charges tied to a Clay County incident.

Tucker, 24, is charged in Clay County District Court file 14-CR-26-2342.

The complaint was filed by summons.

The alleged incident happened near Glyndon.

Shots Reported on Rural Roads

The complaint says a caller reported hearing gunshots near 120th Street South.

The caller also reported seeing a vehicle traveling through the area.

Police later located a pickup that was the only vehicle nearby.

The truck stopped at a residence in Glyndon, according to the complaint.

Tucker and two other men got out of the pickup.

The men told police there were uncased firearms inside the truck.

One passenger allegedly said the group had stopped to shoot at a jackrabbit.

Tucker later admitted shooting at the animal with a .22 rifle, prosecutors allege.

He also allegedly said he hit the jackrabbit.

No police officer names are included in this report.

Firearms and Ammunition Found

Investigators searched the pickup after speaking with the occupants.

The complaint says several firearms were found inside the vehicle.

Police also reported finding ammunition for multiple firearm types.

Those included 9mm, 12-gauge, 20-gauge, .22-caliber, and 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition.

Several spent .22-caliber casings were also found, according to the complaint.

Investigators believed some casings suggested a firearm may have been fired from inside the truck.

Tucker allegedly showed signs of alcohol use while speaking with police.

The complaint describes slurred speech, glossy eyes, and an odor of alcohol.

Open Alcohol Containers Reported

Police also reported finding several open alcoholic beverage containers.

The complaint mentions Twisted Tea cans, a Michelob Ultra can, and a bottle of liqueur.

Some containers were empty, while others still contained alcohol.

Count Two charges Tucker under Minnesota Statute 169A.35.

The complaint classifies the open-bottle charge as a misdemeanor.

A conviction can carry up to 90 days in jail.

A fine of up to $1,000 is also possible.

Gross Misdemeanor Firearm Charge

Count One charges Tucker with carrying a rifle or shotgun in a public place.

The charge cites Minnesota Statute 624.7181.

The law lists exceptions for certain lawful firearm activities and firearm transportation.

Prosecutors allege those exceptions did not apply in Tucker’s case.

The complaint classifies the count as a gross misdemeanor.

It lists a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail.

A fine of up to $3,000 is also possible.

Those are maximum penalties and do not represent a sentence against Tucker.

The complaint contains allegations that have not been proven in court.

Tucker is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
