Bemidji Man Charged After Gun Hidden Following Shooting

Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — Tyrone Edward Richardson faces two charges tied to a July shooting investigation in Bemidji.

Prosecutors charged Richardson with felony aiding an offender as an accomplice after the fact.

He also faces gross misdemeanor possession of a firearm or ammunition following a prior felony conviction.

The alleged offenses happened on July 19, 2026.

Man Shot Near Kestrel Pines

Bemidji police responded around 10:39 p.m. to a reported shooting near Kestrel Pines.

Vincent Parkhurst was later found wounded inside a nearby hotel lobby.

Parkhurst told investigators he heard several gunshots while walking through the Kestrel Pines area.

Police located three spent shell casings near one of the apartment buildings.

Investigators also reported finding bullet damage on a nearby garage and vehicle.

Attention later turned to Terrance Lee Jones Jr., according to the criminal complaint.

Jones told investigators he fired a handgun after another person allegedly fired toward him.

Jones said he feared for himself and his family during the confrontation.

Jones told investigators that he gave the handgun to Richardson after the shooting.

Authorities later interviewed Richardson at the Law Enforcement Center.

Richardson initially said Jones may have thrown the gun into the woods.

Investigators then confronted Richardson with surveillance information, according to the complaint.

Richardson admitted knowing where the gun was located.

He later agreed to take investigators to the area.

Richardson allegedly said Jones suggested getting rid of the weapon while they were running.

Richardson then admitted throwing the handgun into the woods, prosecutors allege.

With Richardson’s help, investigators located the gun near 28th Avenue Northwest and Delton Avenue Northwest.

The firearm was found about 15 feet from the roadway.

Authorities identified it as a Kimber 1911 .45-caliber pistol.

The complaint says one round was chambered and five rounds remained in the magazine.

The aiding charge is filed under Minnesota Statute 609.495.

Prosecutors allege Richardson concealed evidence connected to an alleged second-degree assault.

The complaint lists a maximum sentence of three-and-a-half years and a $7,000 fine.

The complaint says Richardson had a 2023 felony theft conviction.

Prosecutors allege that conviction prohibited him from possessing the loaded pistol or ammunition.

The gross misdemeanor carries up to 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.
