Redby Woman Faces Felony Meth Charge After Traffic Stop

Redby (trfnews.i234.me) — A Redby woman faces a felony drug charge after an August traffic stop in Beltrami County.

Loree Leigh Jackson is charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Prosecutors allege suspected methamphetamine was found among Jackson’s property after she was taken to jail.

The case stems from an August 4, 2026, traffic stop on Lumberjack Road Northeast.

Traffic Stop Begins With Damaged Windshield

According to the complaint, a deputy noticed a dark Ford sedan with a badly shattered windshield.

The deputy stopped the vehicle near Lumberjack Road and Irvine Avenue.

Decotah James Cloud was identified as the driver, while Jackson was the adult passenger.

The complaint says Cloud could not open his driver’s door or lower the window.

He asked the deputy to open the door from outside.

Investigators reported seeing a digital scale and folded tinfoil inside the car.

Cloud allegedly said the items were drug paraphernalia belonging to his cousin.

The complaint says Cloud also showed possible signs of impairment during the stop.

Cloud later acknowledged recent methamphetamine use, according to court records.

He was arrested and taken to the Beltrami County Jail.

Passenger Arrested on Existing Warrant

Authorities then learned Jackson had an active felony-level drug warrant.

Jackson was arrested on that warrant and taken to the jail.

During processing, investigators allegedly found suspected methamphetamine among Jackson’s property.

The complaint lists the amount as .038 grams.

Prosecutors say the substance was suspected methamphetamine.

Jackson was later charged with fifth-degree controlled substance possession.

Felony Drug Charge Filed

The complaint lists the charge as a felony.

It carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

The charge also carries a possible fine of up to $10,000.

Court records also list two prior fifth-degree controlled substance convictions involving Jackson.

Those convictions were entered in 2023 and 2025 in Beltrami County.

Public case information is available through Minnesota Court Records Online.

The case is filed under Beltrami County court file number 04-CR-26-1822.

The charge and supporting statements are allegations and do not establish guilt.

Jackson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
