Moorhead Stop Leads to Stolen Vehicle Felony Charge
Moorhead (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo man faces a felony after police stopped a vehicle reported stolen in Minnesota.
Levi Ray Colton Miller, 25, is charged with receiving stolen property in Clay County District Court.
The charge involves a motor vehicle that authorities say had been reported stolen from Wright County.
The alleged offense happened on July 29, 2026, in Moorhead.
Traffic Stop Begins Investigation
A Moorhead police officer was on routine patrol when a vehicle with dealer plates drew attention.
The vehicle had no visible registration, according to the criminal complaint.
The officer tried to position the patrol vehicle behind it.
The vehicle then entered a business parking lot and quickly changed direction.
The complaint says the movements appeared evasive to the officer.
Police eventually stopped the vehicle on Maine Avenue in Moorhead.
Miller was identified as the driver.

Vehicle Reported Stolen
The officer checked the vehicle identification number during the stop.
The VIN returned as a vehicle reported stolen from Wright County, prosecutors allege.
The vehicle’s regular license plates were found inside the vehicle.
Miller gave the officer paperwork that he said showed he had purchased the vehicle.
The complaint says the title had not been completed.
Police also reviewed a document Miller described as a bill of sale.
Investigators said that document did not appear authentic.
Miller Says He Paid $400
Miller told police he purchased the vehicle from a man in Clearwater.
He said he first got the vehicle running and then paid $400 for it.
Prosecutors allege Miller possessed the vehicle while knowing, or having reason to know, it was stolen.
The complaint does not allege that Miller personally stole the vehicle.
Felony Charge Filed
Miller faces one felony count of receiving stolen property.
The charge carries up to five years in prison and a possible $10,000 fine.
The case is filed as Clay County court file 14-CR-26-2707.
Readers can review Minnesota Statute 609.53 for receiving stolen property.
More court information is available through the Minnesota Judicial Branch.
The charge is an allegation and has not been proven in court.
Miller is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
