Redby Man Faces Drug, DWI Charges After Stop

Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Redby man faces three charges after a July 8 traffic stop.

Ian Iceman-Auginash, 24, is charged with fifth-degree drug possession and drug-related DWI.

He also faces a charge of driving without a valid license.

The charges were filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District Court. The case number is 04-CR-26-1577.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest

According to the complaint, a deputy stopped a vehicle near Irvine and Forest Road.

The complaint says the stop began because the driver’s view was obstructed.

Iceman-Auginash was identified as the driver. The deputy reported seeing red, watery eyes and twitching fingers.

The complaint also alleges several open alcoholic drinks were inside the vehicle.

Authorities later confirmed Iceman-Auginash lacked a current driver’s license, according to the complaint.

He agreed to perform field sobriety tests. The deputy reported seeing additional signs of possible impairment.

The complaint says Iceman-Auginash admitted using marijuana before the traffic stop.

He also allegedly said he had used methamphetamine before driving.

Iceman-Auginash was arrested after the roadside investigation.

During a search, the deputy allegedly found a substance believed to be heroin in his pocket.

The suspected substance was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing.

The complaint does not include final laboratory results.

Iceman-Auginash was taken to the Beltrami County Jail.

Authorities planned to seek a warrant for a blood or urine sample.

The first count alleges fifth-degree possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.

The complaint identifies the suspected substance as heroin.

The second count alleges driving with a Schedule I or II drug in the body.

The third count alleges driving without a valid license.

Minnesota law covers fifth-degree drug possession under Section 152.025.

Drug-related impaired driving is covered under Section 169A.20.

Driver licensing requirements are listed under Section 171.02.
