Reiner Twp: Van Hits Parked Squad on Hwy 1

REINER TWP, Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — A crash on Highway 1 in Reiner Township sent two drivers to the emergency room Thursday.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported the crash at 10:06 a.m. on December 18, 2025.

The crash happened at Highway 1 and 400th Avenue NE in Reiner Township.

Troopers listed road conditions as snow and ice.

What happened

Troopers said a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan was traveling east on Highway 1.

The report says a Pennington County Chevrolet Tahoe squad was parked ahead.

The Tahoe was blocking the eastbound lane for a separate crash, the report said.

The Dodge then collided with the parked squad vehicle.

The State Patrol listed two vehicles involved.

The report did not explain what led to the impact.

Drivers and injuries

The Dodge driver was Amy Jean Johnson, 41, of Thief River Falls.

Troopers reported non-life-threatening injuries for Johnson.

Johnson was treated at Sanford’s emergency center in Thief River Falls.

The report lists Johnson as wearing a seat belt.

The report says the Dodge airbag deployed.

The Tahoe driver was Alex Steven Thibert, 32, of Thief River Falls.

Troopers reported non-life-threatening injuries for Thibert.

Thibert was also treated at Sanford’s emergency center in Thief River Falls.

The report lists seat belt use as “no” for Thibert.

The report says the Tahoe airbag did not deploy.

Alcohol was listed as not involved for either driver.

Response and report details

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene, troopers said.

MnDOT also responded, according to the crash report.

The incident is listed as an injury crash under ICR 25322305.

The State Patrol marked the entry as “information believed complete.”
