AKELEY, Hubbard County (trfnews.i234.me) — A pickup crashed into a bank building in Akeley on Monday afternoon.
The Minnesota State Patrol said the crash happened on December 15, 2025. The reported time was 12:46 p.m.
The location was Highway 34 and Marie Avenue in Akeley. The road was listed as dry.
What happened
State Patrol said a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling east on Highway 34.
Troopers said the truck left the roadway at Marie Avenue.
The truck then struck the First National Bank building, according to the report.
The bank is known as First National Bank North.
The crash report did not list a second vehicle.

Driver identified
The driver was identified as James Lewis Benson, 79, of Akeley.
Troopers reported non-life-threatening injuries.
Benson was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital in Park Rapids, the report said.
That facility is CHI St. Joseph’s Health in Park Rapids.
The report says Benson was wearing a seat belt.
The report says the airbag deployed.
Alcohol was listed as not involved, according to the State Patrol entry.
