Grand Forks Man Sentenced to 30 Months for Drug Charges

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A Grand Forks man, Jonathan Alvarez, 38, pleaded guilty to three drug charges on Monday, Aug. 5, and was sentenced to 30 months in prison. The charges include Class A felony possession of at least 50 grams of cocaine with intent to deliver, Class C felony possession of a schedule IV depressant with intent, and Class C felony possession of drug paraphernalia.

In March, a warrant was executed on a Grand Forks apartment where law enforcement discovered approximately 186 grams of suspected cocaine HCL, 85 suspected Xanax pills, drug paraphernalia with suspected drug residue, and multiple digital scales. All these items were found in common areas of the unit.

Alvarez has been credited for 144 days already served in custody. After serving his sentence, he will be on supervised probation for two years. His co-defendant, Nathaniel James Gepford, was sentenced to probation in July. A third defendant, Jacob Andrew Lopez, maintains his not guilty pleas and is scheduled for a final dispositional conference on Sept. 5
