Perham Man Charged After 105 MPH DWI Stop
PERHAM, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — A Perham man faces two DWI charges after a high-speed traffic stop in Becker County.
Michael James Buck, 32, was charged in Becker County District Court. Both charges are gross misdemeanors.
The case stems from an incident on June 25, 2026.
Vehicle Reportedly Reached 105 MPH
A Minnesota State Patrol trooper was watching traffic with radar that night.
The trooper reported seeing a vehicle travel at 105 mph.
Emergency lights and a siren were activated. However, the vehicle did not immediately stop.
The complaint says the vehicle crossed the fog line during the pursuit.
The driver later slowed down and stopped along the road.
Authorities identified Buck as the driver.
The trooper reported that Buck had slow and sometimes slurred speech.
His eyes appeared bloodshot, according to the complaint. He also reportedly had an unfocused stare.
The trooper also reported smelling alcohol.
Buck allegedly admitted that he had consumed alcohol that night.

Alcohol Tests Detailed in Complaint
Buck completed an eye movement sobriety test, according to the complaint.
The complaint says he showed signs of impairment during that test.
Buck reportedly cited a knee injury and declined other physical sobriety tests.
A roadside breath test produced a reported reading of 0.145.
Buck was arrested and transported to jail.
He was allowed time to contact an attorney before further testing.
A later breath test reportedly measured his alcohol concentration at 0.16.
Two Gross Misdemeanor Charges
Buck is charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
He also faces a charge for having an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher.
The complaint lists one aggravating factor for each charge.
Each count carries a possible sentence of 364 days in jail.
Each also carries a possible $3,000 fine, or both penalties.

The charges are allegations. Buck is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
