Bemidji Man Charged With Drug-Related DWI

Bemidji, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A Blackduck man is facing a gross misdemeanor DWI charge after authorities say he was operating a motorcycle while allegedly having a controlled substance in his system.

Traffic Stop Leads To DWI Charge

According to a criminal complaint filed in Beltrami County District Court, Brice Dean Wiese, 33, of Blackduck, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while his body contained a Schedule I or II controlled substance.

The charge stems from an incident reported on June 5, 2026, in Bemidji. Court documents state the incident happened near Park Avenue and 30th Street.

Authorities allege Wiese was riding a motorcycle despite having a revoked Minnesota driver’s license.

The complaint states officers later stopped Wiese after observing him traveling through the area.

Complaint Details Alleged Drug Use

During the traffic stop, Wiese reportedly told authorities he had recently purchased the motorcycle.

The complaint states he admitted the motorcycle did not have insurance.

According to court documents, authorities observed signs they believed were consistent with possible drug impairment.

The complaint states Wiese had glassy eyes and facial twitching around his eyebrows.

Authorities say Wiese admitted using marijuana and methamphetamine. He reportedly said his last methamphetamine use was three to four days before the stop.

Testing Requested After Arrest

According to the complaint, Wiese was asked to complete field sobriety testing.

The document states he was unable to satisfactorily complete the tests.

Wiese was taken into custody and transported to the Beltrami County Jail.

A search warrant was later obtained for a blood or urine sample, according to court records.

The complaint states Wiese agreed to provide a urine sample. The sample was submitted to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing.

Previous Cases Listed In Complaint

The complaint also lists several previous cases involving Wiese.

Court records show a pending third-degree DWI case from 2025. That case included a license revocation beginning in December 2025.

The records also list a 2022 case involving misdemeanor DWI and felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.

Another listed case from 2016 involved allegations of felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition and a first-degree controlled substance offense.

The current charge against Wiese is a gross misdemeanor. If convicted, the charge carries possible penalties of up to 364 days in jail and a fine of up to $3,000.

All charges are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
