Bemidji Man Charged With Cocaine, DWI Case

Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Redby man is facing criminal charges after a traffic stop in Bemidji led to a cocaine possession investigation.

Douglas Allan Dudley Jr., born February 21, 1999, is charged in Beltrami County District Court with felony fifth-degree drug possession. He also faces misdemeanor charges for drug-related DWI and obstructing the legal process.

Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest

Court documents state the incident happened on June 27, 2026, in Bemidji.

According to the criminal complaint, a black pickup truck was stopped after officers observed possible traffic violations. The complaint states the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

The vehicle stopped in the parking lot of McDonald’s in Bemidji. Court records identify the driver as Dudley.

The complaint states Dudley showed signs that led investigators to suspect possible drug impairment. The complaint described glassy eyes, unusual movements, and continued fidgeting.

Suspected Cocaine Found

According to court documents, officers asked Dudley to exit the vehicle multiple times. The complaint states he refused before eventually getting out of the pickup.

After his arrest, investigators reported finding a small bag inside Dudley’s boot. The complaint states the bag contained a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine during a field test.

The complaint states the substance weighed about 0.50 grams with packaging on an uncertified scale.

Additional Charges Filed

Dudley is also charged with operating a motor vehicle while having a controlled substance in his body.

The complaint states Dudley later admitted he had used cocaine before the traffic stop. Court records say a blood sample was collected for additional testing.

The sample and suspected cocaine were expected to be sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis.

Dudley also faces a charge of obstructing the legal process. The complaint alleges he interfered with officers during the investigation.

Court Case Pending

The charges are filed in Beltrami County District Court. A criminal complaint represents allegations, and Dudley is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The felony drug charge carries a possible maximum penalty of up to five years in prison or a $10,000 fine, or both.

The DWI and obstruction charges each carry possible misdemeanor penalties under Minnesota law.
