On the evening of 07/11/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received information that an adult male assaulted their juvenile stepson. This incident occurred a few days prior to the report at a Lambert Township residence. On the afternoon of 07/12/24, Red Lake County deputies arrested Joseph Cole Wulfson (33) of Brooks. He was taken to jail in Crookston and was booked for felony child torture and gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child. Mr. Wulfson appeared in Court in Crookston on 07/15/24. He was ordered to pay $3,000 cash bail to be released from custody. The Court also set additional conditions of release, including no contact with the victim, the victim’s mother and he is excluded from their residence. Mr. Wulfson remains at the Crookston jail at the time of this release.
On the afternoon of 07/12/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of trespassing from a Lambert Township residence. That report remains under investigation.
On the afternoon of 07/12/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a small child, unaccompanied by an adult, wandering around near the Cenex in Oklee. A deputy responded and returned the child to their parents. The parents were also counseled.
On the evening of 07/13/24, a Red Lake County deputy stopped a vehicle on CR. #13. Investigation at the stop revealed that two occupants of the vehicle had been consuming alcohol, and they were under 21 years of age. Elliott James Link (20) of Burnsville, MN, and Charles Nicholas Bringle (20) of Windsor, CO were both cited for misdemeanor minor consumption of alcohol.
On the evening of 07/13/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle driving recklessly at the Voyageur’s View Campground. Witnesses claimed that the vehicle spun up gravel and rocks, striking several individuals and buildings. A Red Lake County deputy located and stopped it on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls. Anthony Albert Kaminski (29) of Browerville, MN was cited for misdemeanor reckless driving.
On the afternoon of 07/14/24, a Gervais Township resident reported a theft of property. A Red Lake County deputy investigated the report and determined it was an ownership dispute and not a criminal matter.
On the afternoon of 07/14/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported receiving harassing messages via text. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with the reporting party and advice was given.
On the evening of 07/14/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an intoxicated individual driving out of Voyageur’s View. A Red Lake County deputy located the suspect vehicle and stopped it on Broadway Ave. in Red Lake Falls. It was discovered, the driver, Troy Allen Faughn (39) of Bemidji, was intoxicated, nor did he have a valid driver’s license. Mr. Faughn was arrested, taken to jail in Crookston and he was booked with felony DWI and gross misdemeanor driving after cancelation inimical to public safety. He appeared in Court in Crookston on 07/16/24. Mr. Faughn was ordered to pay $3,000 cash bail to be released from jail. He’s still in custody at the Crookston jail.
On the evening of 07/14/24, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office reported they arrested Brandon Michael Hageman (25) of St. Hilaire. Red Lake County held an active felony warrant for his arrest. Mr. Hageman was turned over to a Red Lake County deputy and he was transported to jail in Crookston.
On the evening of 07/14/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported a theft of property from their residence. That report is still under investigation.

In the early morning hours of 07/15/24, a guest at the Oklee Inn called 911 several times to make claims that someone was attempting to get in their room, and also made other claims about people trying to harm them. A Red Lake County deputy went to the Oklee Inn and spoke with the reporting party. It was determined that the claims were unsubstantiated.
On the afternoon of 07/15/24, a Plummer resident reported being harassed by another individual. That report remains under investigation.
On the afternoon of 07/15/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Officer received a report that two small dogs went missing from a Terrebonne Township residence. If anyone sees two small dogs in the area southwest of Red Lake Falls, they are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
On the evening of 07/15/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported being harassed by another individual. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with both parties, and they were counseled.
On the morning of 07/16/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a small white dog running loose. The owner of the dog was notified, and they picked up the dog and returned it home.
On the afternoon of 07/17/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported they received some threatening text messages from a family member. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with the reporting party, and it was determined the threats were viable. On the morning of 07/18/24, the suspect was located in St. Hilaire. Members of the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, the Thief River Falls Police Department, and the Pine to Prairie Violent Crime Enforcement Task Force arrested Justin Arnell Wade Johnson (47) of Hernando, MS. He was taken to jail in Crookston and was booked for felony threats of violence and misdemeanor domestic assault. Mr. Johnson is scheduled to appear in Court in Crookston 07/19/24.
On the afternoon of 07/18/24, Red Lake County deputies arrested Chad Wayne Smith (45) of Red Lake Falls at his residence. Red Lake County held an active misdemeanor warrant for his arrest for failing to appear at a criminal court hearing on 07/17/24. Mr. Smith posted $100 cash bail and was released from custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for 07/31/24 in Red Lake Falls.
