POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Crookston man pleaded guilty on Friday, July 12, to conspiracy to commit a first-degree controlled substance crime. Miguel Arturo Jasso, 25, offered an Alford plea, meaning he maintains his innocence but acknowledges that there is enough evidence to support a conviction. The crime carries a maximum sentence of 30 years.
Jasso continues to plead not guilty to two other felony charges: second-degree controlled substance sale within a prohibited zone and third-degree controlled substance possession within a prohibited zone.
The investigation into Jasso began when law enforcement while probing suspected methamphetamine dealers in Crookston, discovered messages on Jasso’s Facebook account related to drug transactions. Jasso had previously been arrested for driving while impaired. Additionally, two unnamed sources informed police that Jasso was involved in selling methamphetamine.
Following his plea change, Jasso was granted a furlough to spend one day with his children, whom he hadn’t seen since December 2023, according to court documents. His sentencing is set for 9 a.m. on Aug. 1.
