Clearwater County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Park Rapids man is facing two felony charges after a reported campground incident in southern Clearwater County.

Cole Glen Ferestad, 27, of Park Rapids, has been charged in Clearwater County District Court. The case is filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District under court file number 15-CR-26-198.

The charges stem from an alleged incident on May 25, 2026. The complaint lists the location as a campground near 160th Street in Park Rapids.

Felony Charges Filed

Ferestad is charged with first-degree burglary under Minnesota Statute 609.582. That charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. It also carries a possible $35,000 fine.

He is also charged with second-degree assault under Minnesota Statute 609.222. That charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison. It also carries a possible $14,000 fine.

The allegations remain charges only. Ferestad is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Complaint Details Alleged Cabin Entry

According to the complaint, deputies were called around 9:27 p.m. on May 25. A caller reported trouble at the campground.

A witness told law enforcement that Ferestad had been at the campground earlier. The witness said Ferestad had left his phone, wallet, and keys behind.

The witness said he went to Ferestad’s nearby home to return those items. The complaint states Ferestad opened the door and pointed a firearm at him.

The witness described the gun as a short black firearm. He also reported hearing the hammer cock. He then put the items down and walked away.

Another person told law enforcement that Ferestad had been near her cabin. She said he had been drinking and later began pulling items from her smoker.

The complaint says she told him to leave. She reported that Ferestad tried to enter through the front door. She was able to pull him away.

She then believed he was leaving. Instead, she said he moved toward a side door. She ran inside to lock it, but did not get there in time.

The complaint states Ferestad entered the cabin and pushed her once inside. Another person in the cabin reported seeing Ferestad push her and force his way inside.

A friend later removed Ferestad from the cabin, according to the complaint.

Warrant Complaint Filed

The court document is listed as a warrant complaint. It states law enforcement did not make contact with Ferestad on the evening of the alleged offenses.
