Bemidji Man Charged After Highway 2 Pursuit
Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man is facing felony charges after a reported pursuit on U.S. Highway 2.
Alacio Ron Turney has been charged in Beltrami County District Court. The case was filed under court file number 04-CR-26-1227.
Turney is charged with first-degree DWI test refusal. He is also charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. A third charge alleges driving after cancellation as inimical to public safety.
Traffic Stop Reported On Highway 2
According to the criminal complaint, the incident happened on May 27, 2026. Authorities said Turney was seen driving a black GMC Terrain west on U.S. Highway 2.
The complaint says the vehicle was near Swiss Lane NW in Beltrami County. Authorities reported that the license plate lights were not working.
A traffic stop was attempted. The complaint says the vehicle changed lanes and accelerated above 80 miles per hour.
Authorities said the vehicle failed to stay in one lane several times. The complaint says the vehicle slowed near Blom Road, then accelerated again.

Pursuit Ended After About Seven Miles
The complaint says stop sticks were placed near U.S. Highway 2 and Jones Townhall Road. Authorities said the vehicle swerved to avoid them.
The vehicle then turned south onto Jones Townhall Road. It later pulled into a parking lot and stopped.
Authorities said the pursuit lasted about seven miles. A female passenger exited the vehicle after it stopped.
The complaint says Turney appeared erratic during the arrest. Authorities reported he was sweating heavily and had trouble following commands.
The passenger told authorities she had been with Turney for several hours. She said his behavior was not normal, according to the complaint.
She also said she told Turney to pull over several times during the pursuit. She said the vehicle belonged to her.
Search Warrant And Court Charges
Authorities later obtained a search warrant for a blood or urine sample. The complaint says Turney refused to submit to chemical testing.
The complaint also says Turney’s driving status was canceled as inimical to public safety.
A small camouflage bag was found in the vehicle, according to the complaint. Authorities said it contained a DOC identification card, a BB gun pistol, BBs, a digital scale, and unused micro baggies.
The first-degree DWI refusal charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison. It also carries a possible $14,000 fine.
The fleeing charge carries a maximum sentence of three years and one day. It also carries a possible $5,000 fine.
