Bemidji DWI Charge: Woman Found Asleep In SUV

Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — A Red Lake woman is facing a gross misdemeanor DWI charge in Beltrami County District Court.

Taneisha Rose Kraskey, of Red Lake, is charged with operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more within two hours.

The charge was filed in Beltrami County District Court under court file number 04-CR-26-1122.

The case stems from an early morning traffic stop on May 17, 2026, in Bemidji.

Court Complaint Details Traffic Stop

According to the court complaint, a Bemidji police officer was on patrol around 3:05 a.m.

The officer reported seeing a dark-colored SUV stopped at a green light.

The vehicle was near 3rd Street Northwest and Bemidji Avenue Northwest.

The complaint says the officer later returned to the vehicle.

The SUV allegedly remained stopped through another light cycle.

The officer then activated emergency lights and began a traffic stop.

According to the complaint, Kraskey was found in the driver’s seat.

She was allegedly slumped forward and appeared to be asleep.

Complaint Alleges Breath Test Result

The officer reported waking Kraskey by knocking on the window.

The complaint alleges Kraskey had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech.

Kraskey allegedly told the officer she had consumed one alcoholic drink.

The complaint says the vehicle was still in drive.

Kraskey allegedly said she may have fallen asleep with her foot on the brake.

Authorities say Kraskey declined field sobriety testing.

She also allegedly declined a preliminary breath test.

Kraskey was then taken into custody, according to the complaint.

During a vehicle search, police allegedly found a partially consumed Crown Royal whiskey bottle.

The complaint says the bottle was found in the driver’s door.

Kraskey was transported to the Beltrami County Jail.

There, police invoked Minnesota’s implied consent advisory.

Kraskey agreed to a breath test, according to the complaint.

The test allegedly showed an alcohol concentration of 0.13.

Gross Misdemeanor Charge Filed

The complaint cites Minnesota Statute 169A.20.

It also references Minnesota Statute 169A.25.

The charge is listed as a gross misdemeanor.

The maximum penalty is 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.

The complaint also lists prior DWI-related court history from 2023.

It says Kraskey completed the ignition interlock program on April 13, 2026.

A criminal complaint is not a conviction.

Kraskey is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
