EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – In a bizarre criminal case from East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Thomas Applebee of Duluth is facing a felony charge of first-degree criminal damage to property. On July 7th, police responded to a residence where the victim reported that Applebee had smashed his windshield with a metal pipe. Applebee was arrested at the scene.
According to court records, Applebee told officers that he had been staying at the victim’s home for about three months and wanted the victim to give him a ride. He warned the victim that if he didn’t comply within ten minutes, he would smash the windshield. True to his word, Applebee damaged the windshield with a pipe and proudly admitted to it, expressing no regret. He stated, “I’m not going to deny that I did it. I’m proud of it.”
Applebee had researched the charges beforehand, believing he would face two misdemeanors and wanted to go to jail. He emphasized that his actions were premeditated and not influenced by his mental health. Despite his assumptions, Applebee now faces a felony charge for his actions.
