Mahnomen Man Charged In Criminal Sex Case

MAHNOMEN, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — Augustus Ray Deegan, 34, of Mahnomen, is facing two felony criminal sexual conduct charges.

The case was filed in Mahnomen County District Court.

Court records list the file number as 44-CR-26-249.

According to the complaint, the alleged incident happened on or about April 29, 2026.

Two Felony Charges Filed

Deegan is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving force.

He is also charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a physically helpless or impaired victim.

Each count carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

Each count also carries a possible $40,000 fine.

Report Made At Mahnomen Hospital

The complaint says law enforcement was contacted around 12:56 p.m.

A victim was at Mahnomen Hospital and wanted to report a rape.

The victim told investigators she had walked from the casino area to Riverland Apartments.

She said she had been with Vernon Jackson earlier that morning.

The victim reported going to an apartment connected to David Deegan.

She said Augustus Ray Deegan answered the door.

According to the complaint, she asked to sleep there for the night.

She said she was allowed to sleep in a bedroom.

Victim Reported Pain And Bleeding

The victim told investigators she later woke up during an assault.

She said she told Deegan to stop.

The complaint says she reported being held down during the alleged assault.

She also reported pain, bleeding, and soreness afterward.

After leaving the apartment, she went to another residence.

The complaint says she later went to Mahnomen Hospital.
