GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A Minneapolis, Minnesota, man waived his Monday, July 8, preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to 15 felony charges relating to drugs and theft in Grand Forks County.
Tyler Gene Berg, 33, is charged with three Class A felonies: unauthorized use of personal identifying info to obtain credit, possession of at least 50 grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, and possession of at least 10 grams of fentanyl analog with intent to deliver. Class A felonies carry a maximum sentence of 20 years.
Berg also faces four Class B felonies: conspiracy to deliver fentanyl, fentanyl possession with intent, possession of a Schedule III depressant with intent, and conspiracy to commit unauthorized use of personal identifying info to obtain credit over $1,000.
The remaining eight charges are Class C felonies: conspiracy to commit forgery, theft, conspiracy to commit theft, possession of a Schedule IV depressant with intent, marijuana possession with intent, drug paraphernalia possession, possession of a Schedule III hallucinogen, and possession of a Schedule IV depressant.
Berg and his wife, Brooke Reed Edwards, are accused of creating investment accounts under someone else’s name, depositing forged checks, and selling fentanyl to a confidential informant. During a search of their residence following the controlled buy, law enforcement allegedly found marijuana, methamphetamine, fentanyl powder, M30 pills, ketamine, Xanax, clonazepam, amphetamine/dextroamphetamine, gabapentin, a scale with residue, and hundreds of designer bags, according to court documents.
Berg’s final dispositional conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on October 3.
