Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man is facing two felony criminal sexual conduct charges in Beltrami County District Court.
Charles James Headbird, 53, has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
He is also charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The case was filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.
The court file number is 04-CR-26-743.
Report Made At Park Place
According to the complaint, police responded on March 17, 2026.
The report involved an alleged sexual assault at Park Place in Bemidji.
The alleged incident happened on February 23, 2026.
An adult woman told police she had been very intoxicated.
She reported that she did not remember the incident.
The complaint says a witness later found her inside her room.
The witness reported finding Headbird in the room with her.
Complaint Cites Video Timeline
According to court records, police also spoke with Headbird.
The complaint says Headbird admitted having sex with the woman.
He also said both had been very drunk.
Headbird claimed the woman was not unconscious, according to the complaint.
He also said he did not remember much more.
Investigators reviewed hallway video from outside the woman’s room.
The complaint says the video showed several people entering the room.
The footage also showed others leaving later that afternoon.
A witness entered the room around 5:45 p.m., according to court records.
A few minutes later, the video showed the woman being carried out.
Felony Charges Filed
Headbird is charged under Minnesota Statute 609.344.
That count carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
It also carries a possible $30,000 fine.
The second count is charged under Minnesota Statute 609.345.
That count carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
It also carries a possible $20,000 fine.
