GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – We now have an update to yesterday’s story about a suspect being arrested in a Grand Forks garage and the homeowner’s words of praise for the job police did in quickly arresting him. Here’s the strange story of how it all started.
Yesterday, we shared Grand Forks resident Amy Swanson’s words of praise to the Grand Forks Police for quickly and efficiently getting a runaway suspect out of her garage in the Ben Franklin School neighborhood. “The cops on the ground were wonderful. I felt safe. I wasn’t scared despite not knowing what in the hell was going on,” Swanson said.
According to court documents, the incident began on the 1300 block of 13th Avenue South. The suspect, Marc Carter, was arrested after allegedly standing on the street holding a rock over his head, threatening to hit a motorcycle rider with it. He was found in possession of a meth pipe before being handcuffed and put in the back seat of a patrol car.
Carter then complained of injuries from the handcuffs being too tight. When the officer went back to check, Carter took off running, having slipped out of the handcuffs. A drone later spotted him running into Swanson’s garage, where he was arrested and now faces charges of Escape, Criminal Trespass, and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with a misdemeanor charge of Refusal to Halt.
